Liz Oswell was looking for a local food project, she sparked to the idea of raising backyard chickens- colorful lawn ornaments that would necessitate a fun coop building project. She impulsively purchased two hens. Suddenly coop sketches and chicken raising books filled her Pennsylvania home. Liz was becoming a part of a new national movement whether she liked it or not. She and her husband embraced the two bundles and soon discovered they had stumbled into a series of adventures that would include a new diet for both her and her husband. After some fox issues, Liz had to say goodbye to her initial flock but she knew it wasn't the end to her fluffy adventures.
Today the ladies outback include, Stella, Blanche, Gertrude, Alice, and a cocker spaniel, Cookie, who keeps watch over everything. Liz has worked her way up from the once tasteful coop she started two years ago to the now eight square feet chicken home which takes up a third of her lawn. As Liz's experience with the chicken grew, so grew her understanding of the souls of these individuals and their enormous contribution to her kitchen table.
